Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD EDWARD MARAT Ron died January 13, 2004 of prostate cancer. He is survived by his sweetheart and wife of over 54 years Dorothy and his sons, Kirk (Diana) of Winnipeg, Glen (Jacqui) of Calgary, Dale (Melody) of Shawnigan Lake; his grandchildren, Andrea, Kevin, Delaney and Cassidy and his sister Doreen Derrett of Stonewall, MB. Ron was born April 2, 1928 in Winnipeg. In 1979 he and Dorothy moved to Calgary and they retired to Victoria in 1994. He was an avid competitive bicycle racer and rode passionately and actively until his death. He held honorary life memberships in the Winnipeg Bicycling Club, the Calgary Bicycle Track League and the Calgary Veterans Bicycle League. Curling was his winter activity and was a past president of the Juan de Fuca Senior Mens C.C. Ron was an active member of the Masonic Fraternity having been initiated in Three Pillars Lodge No. 169, 1962 in Winnipeg. He served as Master in 1973 and was D.D.G.M. of the eleventh district in Winnipeg in 1978. He was an Honorary Life Member of St. Marks Lodge No. 118 in Calgary and an affiliated member of Goldstream Lodge No. 161 in Victoria where he held the office of Secretary for a number of years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17 AT MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Sts., Victoria BC At 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation. Rons gone, dont be too sad.
