GEORGE "DEREK" JAMES AIKENS Derek was born on December 4, 1950 and passed away peacefully with family by his side on January 15, 2004 at the Grace Hospital. Derek started school in Lavenham, MB and completed his education in Transcona. He went on to become a rail traffic controller with CPR in various locations, until he arrived at Rugby Tower, Winnipeg, where he was currently working. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving mother Agnes; brother Morley (Terri) nieces, Melanie and Sherri-Lynn; and nephew David. He will be lovingly remembered by his aunts, uncle and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his dad, Dalton Aikens in 1974. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., (entrance on Aubrey Street), on Tuesday, January 20 at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be held in Lavenham Community Church on Wednesday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow in Rossendale Cemetery. The family wishes to thank his coworkers at CPR (Rugby) for their support, the staff of the 3rd Floor Grace Hospital for their unending care and a special thanks to cousin Debbie and husband Kelly for their love and assistance.
