WILLIAM ROBERT FRANKS On January 15, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital, William Franks, aged 67 years, of Winnipeg and formerly of Petersfield, MB. Bill was born on July 5, 1936 in Selkirk, was raised in the Netley district where he received his primary education and then went to Selkirk for his high school education where he received the Governor Generals Award. Later he worked for C.N.R., then Burroughs Business Machines, as well as National Typewriter. He had a wonderful love of music and sang and played several instruments with the Coachman band for many years. He was very talented in many fields. Bill was predeceased by his father Bill in 1970; mother Martha in 1992 and sister Margaret Linklater in 1999. He leaves to mourn his passing his brother Art (Diane) Franks; sister Marion (Herb) McMahon; brother-in-law Jim Linklater; nephews, Trevor (Rhonda) McMahon, Dean (Jackie) Linklater and their children, Holly and Laurel, Brian Linklater and son Jeremy; aunts, Alice Reid and Thelma Land and many cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20 at 1:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with viewing one hour prior to service. Active pallbearers will be Rick, Larry and Bob Mabee, Dan Figsby and Chris Gillies. Honorary pallbearers will be Gordon Taylor, Bob Fleury, Steve Gillies, Jens Feting and Morgan Siemen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Society, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or to the St. Matthews Church, in care of Rick Sutherland, 780 Pigeon Bluff Rd., St. Andrews, MB R1A 4J8. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
