BETTY JOYCE FRASER (HOUSE) December 28, 1923 - January 17, 2004 Peacefully at home with her family by her side. Betty was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Ethel; two brothers, Harold and George and a sister Helen. Betty is survived by her husband Ian; sons, John at home, Tom with wife Samira in Victoria, BC; brothers, Roy in Brantford ON, Jack with wife Alice in Penticton, BC; brother-in-law Glen with wife Florence in Winnipeg and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was born and raised in Brantford, ON, where her family owned and operated the Brantford Coffee and spice Co. When Betty graduated from the Brantford Collegiate High School she was employed by the Johnsons Wax Co. as secretary to the plant manager. Friends will remember the comedy team Fibber McGee and Molly who advertised on radio for Johnsons. When Fibber and Molly entertained in Toronto, Johnsons sent their staff from Brantford to Toronto to see the show. Betty was baptized in the Anglican Church and was faithful her whole life. She married Ian in 1950 and moved to Winnipeg where they moved into a house and lived there for 53 years. Like the biblical Ruth she also adopted Ians church, Riverview United, now Churchill Park United, where she was active with the United Church Womens Group until the time of her death. From 1980 on she devoted much of her time to Holy Trinity Anglican Church downtown Winnipeg, where she was a conscientious member of the Chancel Guild. Betty exhibited a commitment and dedication to her family that will be forever cherished. Betty also enjoyed her membership in the Womens Canadian Club, the friendships she made and the luncheons she enjoyed along with the speakers. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. I. Maxwell and his staff in the Victoria Hospital Oncology Clinic, to Dr. Stanley Eng her family physician, to Norma and Jo and their numerous Home Care Nursing Colleagues, the dedicated Home Care workers and to the Riverview Health Care Centre Palliative Care Wing 3 East, Dr. Garcia and Staff for their competent and compassionate care. Funeral services to celebrate Bettys life and witness will be held on Wednesday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Donald at Graham. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery.
