LENA LYSAICHUK 1916 - 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother; grandmother; great-grandmother; great-great-grandmother on January 16, 2004 at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her husband Dmytro in 1981; brothers, Mike, Bill, Harry and Steve; sisters, Anne (Kereluik) and Mary (Gloss). She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Elizabeth (Day) of Winnipeg and Terry (Eileen) of Brandon. She will also be missed by grandchildren, Kenneth, Robert, Bradley, Allison (Mark) Samagalski, Diane Lysaichuk, Carla (Glenn) Falloon, Susan (Brent) Dyck; great-grandchildren, Michelle, Nicholle, Lizanne, Michael, Alyssa, Josh, Zack and Madison; great-great-grandson Damien; numerous nieces and nephews. Lena was born and raised in Poplar Park, married Dmytro Lysaichuk in 1937 and moved to Saskatchewan to embark on his teaching career. Upon returning to Manitoba they owned and operated a general store in Rossburn and later in Libau, however Dmytros love of teaching lured them to northern Manitoba where Lena also taught Home Economics. Retiring from teaching, they moved to Chilliwack, BC for several years. After Dmytros demise, Lena spent some years in Calgary then returned to Manitoba where she spent her final years in Brandon and Winnipeg. Her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, curling, fishing, handiwork, cake decorating, dancing and never hesitated to tackle any new ventures. Babas generosity and caring throughout her life was immeasurable and will always be remembered and cherished. She was a devoted member of the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church. Thank you God for the blessing of her lifetime amongst us. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the paramedics and medical staff at Victoria Hospital for their special care and attention; also to friends and family for their support and compassion. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Very Rev. Henry Lakusta officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Day, Robert Day, Bradley Day, Brent Dyck, Glenn Falloon and Mark Samagalski. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Moms memory. A heart of gold stopped beating Hard working hands went to rest, God took you home to prove to us, He only takes the best. You were always there when we needed you. Thanks for the years you took care of us And for the precious times we shared. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
