Date of Passing: Jan 17, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE IWANICKI Rose Iwanicki, born on November 11, 1922, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Seven Oaks General Hospital, following a short but courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents; brother Carl, Dave, Alex, and Bill Wiedemann; sisters Emma Soucie and Caroline Soucie; her loving husband Alexander Iwanicki (58) on May 18, 1974 after 27 years of marriage and her beloved grandson Kevin Iwanicki (3) on December 9, 1981. Survived by her loving sister Freda Borger. Left to cherish her memory son Randy; daughter-in-law Diane; granddaughters Jennifer (partner Kiah Martin), Melbourne, Australia and Brittany; nieces and nephews. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg the youngest of eight children. Over the years she worked at various jobs, Woods, Airliner Drive-Inn (when Randy was older) and lastly before her back problems, Stovels. Mom was a dedicated, devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She always took an interest in her families activities and was proud of their accomplishments. She regularly attended her granddaughters school events, dance recitals and soccer games. Mom was a great homemaker and was always ready to help whenever we needed her, especially during the flood. She was able to live in her house, on her own, despite osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. Her home was always spotless. Mom was a great cook and shared her knowledge with Diane, who was like a daughter to her. We always enjoyed her perogies, holobchi, lasagna and especially berrocks. Mom cooked and baked for her family and we all really appreciated the Sunday dinners and cookies to take home. When she got osteoporosis 25 years ago and suffered severe back problems, she was the guest in our home for many Sunday dinners and visits. When mom was younger, she bowled in a league. She took pleasure in fishing trips with friend Corny and always enjoyed a good game of Rummoli with us. In later years, she enjoyed watching tv, especially The Young and The Restless, ice skating competitions and her favourite, tennis. Rose was a beautiful person, both inside and out. She was filled with love and nurtured those around her. She approached all aspects of life with an unforgettable sense of humour, despite any ailments. Mom, you will be forever remembered for the admirable person you were and will eternally hold a place in our hearts as our loving mother and grandmother. Many thanks to Dr. L. Chung, Dr. Lyzack and the wonderful staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, especially 5th floor Unit 3 staff. Special thanks to Carla and Brian Plaseski, next door neighbours, for always being there for mom. A celebration of moms life will take place Thursday, January 22 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lukes Zion Lutheran Church, 2903 McPhillips St. (1 miles past Garden City Shopping Centre). Burial to follow at Garry Memorial, 1291 McGillvary Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to moms favourite charity, The Salvation Army, or The Canadian Cancer Society of Manitoba. We love you mom and will miss you You are the wind beneath our wings Neil Bardal Inc. (949-2200) in charge of arrangements.
