JOSEPH R. SINNOTT October 17, 1926 - January 16, 2004 Joseph died peacefully at home after a valiant struggle with Parkinsons. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Barbara and his devoted family, Emmett (Nancy), Tim (Nancy), Quinn (Kathy), Denny (Heather), Colleen (Harri), Tom (Dagny), Mari (Rick), Megan and grandchildren, Brinn, Will, Liz, Rose, Corinn, Carlie, Rachel, Becky, Gareth, Keegan, Devinn, Gus, Shae and Pat. Joe grew up in Winnipeg, graduated from St. Pauls College, served in the Merchant Navy as a cadet officer, married Barbara in 1950. They, and their three young sons, moved to California in 1955. As a stereotyper and lithographer Joe worked for the Oakland Tribune, Berkeley Gazette, Alameda Times Star and other San Francisco Bay Area newspapers before settling in Victoria in 1973. He was valued at the Times-Colonist for his offset camera expertise and his active support of the trade unions. A great sports enthusiast and fan, Ace took pride in his running ability, completing a marathon and encouraged his family to follow in his footsteps. They thank him for the many baseball and football games and the treasured memories of their dad, grandpa, and Uncle Joe as a fierce and often unbeatable competitor at volleyball, ping-pong and card games during many summers together at Gull Lake, MB. Joseph has brought us all together again for a funeral mass to be held Wednesday, January 21 at 12:10 p.m. at St. Patricks Church Victoria. A Reception will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Hall.
