Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ALDERDICE (BALCAM) 1919 - 2004 Peacefully on January 19, 2004 at Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home Mary Alderdice passed away in her 85th year. Her husband William (Bill) predeceased Mary in January 2003. She is survived by her sister Jessie Wheatley of Toronto. Mary will be missed by her daughter Wendy Brouillette of Winnipeg; her sons, Sandy (Lois) of London, ON and John (Jane) of Winnipeg. Also mourning her passing will be her grandchildren, Donald Lacroix-Brouillette (Joanne), Derrick Brouillette (Alanna), Marci Brouillette (Wayne Ducharme), David Alderdice (Nancy) of Toronto, Shanyn Alderdice of London, ON, and her youngest grandchild Zachary Alderdice of Winnipeg who she lovingly called her "sweet boy". Mary was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Allan, Jeanine, Hannah-Marie and a little one on the way all of Winnipeg, and Steven, Andrew and Katie of Toronto. Mary was born in Winnipeg on July 10, 1919 and resided in the Fort Rouge Riverview area all her life and graduated from Kelvin High School. In her younger years, Mum enjoyed tennis (where she met Dad), badminton, square dancing and even some bowling. She was very creative and enjoyed all kinds of crafts. As well as being a mother and wife, Mum had a varied and productive working life beginning at Eatons then moving to become secretary at Riverview United Church, dressmaking and sewing at home and finally working at the Paper Gallery. Mum also volunteered at the Craft Guild of Manitoba and of course, her church and many charitable fund-raising organizations. Until very recently Mum could be found involved in a competitive game of bridge with her lifelong, and as close as any sisters can be, friends Dora Carpenter, Betty Donegani, and Bess Emeno. When Mum was not feeling well Dad would say "Suggest a game of bridge - that will cure her". Mum also was fortunate to travel to destinations including Scandinavia, Bermuda, Hawaii as well as many trips south of the border with her daughter Wendy. As well, there were the annual trips to Toronto to visit her only sister Jessie and her family. Mum mostly enjoyed good times with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At Marys request no formal service will be held and cremation has taken place. The family would like to extend deep gratitude to the staff of Tuxedo Villa and Dr. M. Burke. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Marys name to CNIB, 1080 Portage Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
