Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD TRETHART October 11, 1915 - January 21, 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Edward Trethart at Pine Falls Hospital on Wednesday, January 21, 2004. Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife Irene of 63 years; sons, Melvyn (Kathy), Drew (Adele), Tris (Geraldine), Kim (Ruth), Dorian (Claudette) and daughter Dorinda (Gordon) as well as numerous grandchildren, Larissa, Charla, Alison, Andrew, John, Malin, Byron, Cicely, Mary, Pam, Cheryl, Travis, Nathan, Aaron, Jolene, Cassandra, Katrina and Rebecca; and great-grandchildren, William and Autumn; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Phillip and Magdeline; and brothers and sisters, Gus, Emily, Maggie, Minnie, Rosie, Lena, Phillip, John, Vernon and Jack. As a young man, Ed worked as a bookkeeper for Alec McIntosh in Lac du Bonnet, MB, where he met his lifetime companion, Irene. He went on to work for North American Lumber at various locations, including Selkirk, Fort Frances and Powerview until his retirement in 1981. Upon retirement, Ed and Irene moved to Bird River, where they spent many happy years boating, cross country skiing, hiking and enjoying nature. They also enjoyed travelling, going to such places as Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Trinidad, Alaska and Cyprus. We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Whitemouth Personal Care Home and Sunnywood Manor, Pine Falls for their compassion, caring and understanding during his last few months. In accordance with Eds wishes, his body has been donated for research to the Department of Anatomy at the University of Manitoba. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pine Falls United Church with Rev. Bob Rodger officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society or Sunnywood Manor.
