ANNETTE LACROIX (nee CHABIDON) Peacefully, on January 20, 2004, Annette ended her lengthy battle with cancer with courage, patience and serene acceptance at the age of 76. Annette was most recently predeceased by her nephew Alain and her sister Therese and years ago by her parents, three brothers, and her husband Lou. Left to mourn her departure are her daughter Marcia; her grandson Adrien; her son-in-law Fred Merrett; his daughter Kathy (Ron Drepaul) and her beloved sister Rosalie. She will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Annette enjoyed life in all the various stages: her childhood on the farm, being the youngest of six, her 25 year career as a hairdresser, the cottage years, her retirement years as a "snow-bird" with Lou, and of course the years as a grandmother: but she always said the highlight of her life was the miracle of becoming a mother. During the last five years she spent time camping with Fred and Marcia by the Brokenhead River enjoying and appreciating the many wonders of nature. There will also be many great memories of suppers with the Mantays, and overnighters at Alain and Pats. She had peace of mind, security and much happiness living beside her daughter. Their relationship was very special, and they travelled the cancer journey with much strength together. Marcia would like to extend her heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jan Mulder and Janice Brickey (R.N.) for their help and support while caring for Mom at home in the past few months. In her last month, the care and concern of the St. Boniface Palliative Care team will always be remembered and greatly appreciated. They provided the best environment for Annette and her attitude of complete co-operation, patience, courage, sense of humour and mostly her serene acceptance made this last part of her journey easier to bear. Thanks Mom! Funeral service at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Friday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. (viewing at 6:30 p.m.) followed by entombment in Holy Angel Mausoleum. Donations may be made to St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave. Room D1003, R2H 2A6 (237-2067). GREEN ACRES Funeral Home, Cemetery, Crematorium Hwy# 1 E. at Navin, 222-3241
