HELEN DAMPIER On Friday, January 16, 2003 at St. Boniface Hospital after a long illness at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Dampier in 1971 and her brothers Myron and Mitchell Kramchynski. She is survived by her son Dr. Frederick Dampier of Watertown, Massachusetts, her stepdaughter Mrs. D. (Carole) Cassell of Livermore, California, brother Joe and his wife Evelyn of Canmore, Alberta, brother Walter and goddaughter, Diane Kunec both of Winnipeg. Helen was born in Garland, MB and came to Winnipeg in 1922. She worked at the King George Hospital and Childs restaurant before marrying in 1940. She participated in a variety of civic improvement and zoning initiatives in the Osborne Village area during the last 25 years. As a widow she was active with the Religious Society of Friends and the Unitarian Universalist Church. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and many dear friends. Following her wishes there will not be a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association.
