GEORGE ROBERT MURPHY On Friday, January 23, 2004, George Murphy aged 79 years of Oatfield, MB passed away peacefully at the Eriksdale Hospital with his family at his side. George was born in Welby, SK, September 5 1924, the ninth child of George and Grace Murphy. He married Anora Woods on December 10, 1944 in Harmona, SK. They moved to Oatfield, MB where they farmed and raised their family. George enjoyed flowers (especially roses), his vegetable garden, horses, and hunting. He is survived by his seventeen children, Lavern (Donna), Lynn (Ruby), Lynda, Lyle, Larry, Keith (Barbara), Dawn (Larry), Elaine (Arno), Carol (John), Sandra, Pat (Carol), Sylvia, Darell (Sharon), and his second family Kenneth, Erma, Delwin, and Sheldon. He is also survived by 42 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Barbara, Margaret, and Audrey and his brother Lawrence. George was predeceased by his parents; his wife Anora; two infant sons; grandsons, Allan and Clayton; sisters, Annie and Alice; brothers, Ray, Bill, Fred, John, and Glenn. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eriksdale Recreational Centre with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Eriksdale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George and David Ives, Lee and Daniel Murphy, Mark and Carl Parkes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Albert Murray, Dillon Murphy, Frank Desjarlais, Andrew Malcolm, as well as everyone who had the honour of knowing him. Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Friday, January 30 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern.
