Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTON (TONY) SIEBEN It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Anton (Tony) Sieben on Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at the age of 70 years. Tony will be sadly missed by his wife of 49 years, Anna Maria (Anne) sons, Glen (Evelyn), Lambert (Debbie) and Tony Jr.; grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa, William, Daniel, Tamara and Christopher. He will also be dearly remembered by his family overseas, brothers, William (Margot), Harry (Audrie) and sister Annie (Fritz) Mennens; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends, both here and abroad. Tony was a very proud man born in Sittard, Netherlands on September 28, 1933. He arrived in Canada in 1955 to raise his family and begin a new life. Tony will be remembered for his mechanical skills throughout a 35 year career as a welder at the CNR Transcona Shops until his retirement in 1991. His love and enjoyment of competitive activities included bowling, darts and playing cards. He spent countless hours on his passion for pets and animals including his dog Lady, his racing pigeons and his breeding canaries. His greatest pride was saved for his grandchildren. He could be found many evenings or weekends at an arena to watch a hockey or ringette game, and he always had a wallet full of photos of all of his grandchildren ready to proudly display. As a member of the Dutch Canadian Club, the social gatherings and activities he attended with Anne helped to maintain a strong connection to his homeland and provided many happy memories and cherished friendships. Thank you to Dr. Alvi for years of care, Linda and staff at the Concordia Hospital and to the Winnipeg Police Department for their compassion and courtesy. Funeral service celebrating Tonys life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 26 at the Transcona Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Holmen officiating. Service to terminate at the chapel. Memorial donations may be made in Tonys memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street in care of arrangements.
