DAVID KOSACK David Kosack, beloved husband of Jean, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24 in the Tudor Personal Care Home. David was born on September 4, 1910 in Libau, MB to William and Anastasia Kosack. He grew up and went to school in Libau. He married Jean Waytiuk on November 27, 1937. They farmed in St. Peters until 1958 when they moved to Selkirk. In 1999, Dave took ill and moved to the Tudor House in Selkirk. David leaves to mourn his passing, loving wife Jean of 66 years, son Donald, daughter Evelyn Schinkel (Reinhardt) and grandson Tony. Brothers, Mike, Steve and Fred (Stella) sisters, Mary Payonk and Anne Chernetski (Alex) sisters-in-law, Lilly and Edith; numerous nephews and nieces, as well as favourite cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Anastasia; brothers, John, Harry, Andrew, Bill, Nick and Alex; and sister Eva Boyko. Dave was know as Davey Crocket, a jack-of-all trades, fixing hydraulic jacks, sharpening saws, fixing motors, building flower pots, bird houses, etc. He worked on the railroad, in bush camps, in gold mines, on farms, and later as a millwright at the Manitoba Rolling Mills until his retirement in 1975. Dave enjoyed his family and never missed an opportunity to have a party or go to a celebration. He was quite the dancer in his younger days and even strutted off his stuff at their 60th Wedding Anniversary. He loved to travel (not overseas). He took pride in taking his family from coast to coast in Canada, to all the states in USA, Alaska, and even a motoring trip to Acapulco, Mexico. He enjoyed Bingo, the VLTs and cards. He was a member of the ANAF, Unit 51, for 48 years. As per Dads wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Selkirk, MB with Pastor Dave Saude officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the congregation. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Box 448, Selkirk, MB R1A 2B3. A private burial service will take place at a later date. Thanks to the staff at Tudor Home for all their care and compassion shown to David. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay, You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting, Until the very end. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, "Come with Me", So when we saw you sleeping, So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back, To suffer that again. Rest In Peace "Always remembered and always loved Dad" Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
