MABEL JEAN McCORRIE Peacefully, in her 90th year, with her family by her side, Mabel passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2004 at the Concordia Hospital. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Alex) Wusaty, Nancy (Ernie) Ducharme, Patsy (Doug) Hadden, Joan (Norm) Woodward, Donna (Don) McPherson and sons, Doug of Victoria, BC, and Bruce (Laurie) and daughter-in-law Louella. Also survived by her brother, Jim (Pam) Gunson and sisters, Grace Claeys and Ruth Morrison; 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1964; son Robert in 1991; daughter Betty in 1952 and grandchildren, Stuart, Lisa and Stephen. Mom was born in Darlingford, MB on February 16, 1913. She resided in Transcona since 1919. She married Tommy in 1931. Moms many interests included quilting, puzzles, reading, baking and watching soap operas. She dearly looked forward to Saturday morning garage sales and weekly shopping trips. Christmas was an exciting time for Mom as she purchased special gifts for all her family and friends. We were so proud of our Mom as she lived independently in her own home and she was active right up to her demise. Mom will be sorely missed by all her family and friends and she will remain in our hearts forever. The family thanks Dr. Kevin Grace for his care over the past years, E.R. nurses Kristi and Jay, and also the hospital chaplain and paramedics, for their compassion to the family at this very difficult time. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, January 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Funeral service to follow on Thursday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Georges Anglican Church, 321 Pandora Ave. West, with Rev. John Holmen officiating. Interment at Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
