JOHN TREMAINE TRYON 1925 - 2004 It is with profound sadness that we announce the very sudden passing, on January 24, 2004, of John, our father and grandfather, while travelling with his beloved Thelma Martin. A wonderful, compassionate, true gentleman he was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, P.A., in 1991. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy in his three daughters, Peggy Klementowicz (London, ON), Susan Fache (Gord) (Calgary, AB) and Judy (Winnipeg), three grandchildren, of whom he was so very proud, Maddie, Tori and John Fache as well as a brother Victor of Burlington, ON. John was born in Winnipeg in 1925, to Victor and Grace Tryon. After graduating from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Commerce, John articled with Riddell Steen, receiving his Chartered Accountancy designation in Montreal. He and P.A. then headed to the wild west of Calgary in 1954, where he practiced with Glendinning, Campbell, Jarrett and Dever. In 1964, the grain industry beckoned him and he and his family moved back to Winnipeg where John began a long and fruitful career with Federal Grain. His next exciting challenge, still within the grain industry, saw John in the mid 1970s start up and operate the first canola crushing plant in Lloydminister, AB. John finished his career in his most favoured capacity, that of Director of Transportation and Marketing with the Canadian International Grains Institute. He and P.A. loved hosting the many worldwide C.I.G.I. visitors who came to learn and he loved teaching and sharing all he knew of the grain business. It really was a labour of love. In the past several years, John was so very fortunate to have found another true love and that was with Thelma Martin. She and her family were a very special part of his life. Thelma and John shared many wonderful travels and adventures, from Christmases in the Kooteneys, to martinis in Siesta Key, to slapping mosquitoes and enjoying sunsets on Lake of the Woods. These years with Thelma made Johns life richer, happier and no doubt longer! One of Johns yearly highlights was the annual fishing trip with the "boys". He spent many hours planning the festivities and we were often left with the distinct impression that the fish were a convenient excuse to get together. Johns life was touched by cancer a few years ago and so with that in mind, the family requests that donations be made in his name to St. Boniface Hospital Foundation - Oncology. Celebration of his life will be held later in the spring when Winnipeg is at its most beautiful. (and the spraying program is well underway).
