AGNES (NANCY) JOHNSTON Suddenly, but peacefully, on January 23, 2004 Nancy passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital. Nancy is survived by her beloved children, son Tom Johnston and wife Beryl, grandchildren, Lori Cantin and husband JP, great-granddaughter Melina, Tom Johnston and wife Chris, great-grandchildren, Jenniffer, MacKenzie, Takoda and Kendra; daughter Sandy Meacham and husband Doug, grandchildren Ross, Scott and Amy; daughter Nancy Stephensen and husband Leigh, grandchildren, Matthew and Beth; daughter Donna McLean and husband Larry, granddaughter Kristen; son Alex Johnston and wife Bev, granddaughter Laurena; daughter Tracy Wark and husband Brent, grandchildren, Ainsley, Daniel, Matthew and Nicholas; brother Robert Wilson and wife Rita and their family in Stockport, England; sister-in-law Cathy Eadon and her family in Coatbridge, Scotland. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Don in 1991, her parents, Robert and Margaret; sister Jean; brother Bill; and granddaughter Taylor. Nancy was born in Coatbridge, Scotland on December 5, 1927. Nancy met Don when he was serving overseas during the Second World War. They married on May 31, 1946 and together they returned to the Birtle area where they farmed until 1956. They then moved to Flin Flon and lived there until 1964 when they moved to Winnipeg, where she lived for the remainder of her life. Nancy spent her early years raising her family and later worked for Eatons and Sears. She retired in 1989. Nancy enjoyed curling, bowling and painting but her favourite pastime was spending time with her family. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and all their accomplishments. Due to failing health, Nancy spent her last years at Fort Garry Care Centre and then Kildonan Personal Care Centre where she received the very best of care. Our warmest thanks to the staff at both facilities. The family would also like to thank the Hemodialysis unit at St. Boniface Hospital and all the staff who cared for Mom over the last five years. The care and compassion given will never be forgotten. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made in Nancys honour to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, (MB Branch), 200-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
