Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDWIGHT BELL April 22, 1952 - January 25, 2004 Suddenly but peacefully on Sunday, January 25, Dwight, aged 51 years, passed on to be with the Lord and his mother whom he loved dearly. His mother Winfred predeceased Dwight in January 2000. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, Lee; and their two children, Terri Lynn Morrisseau (Jeff) and Jamie (Raelynn) his grandchildren, Brielle and Joss, Dylan and Madison. They were his pride and joy and they will surely miss their Papa. He also leaves his father Hannes; brothers, Hannes Jr. (Amanda), Wesley (Helen), Miles (Gail), Terry (Joanne), Bruce (Nola), Barry; sister Lovisa (Kevin) numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and business associates (some were so close to Dwight that they were like family). He also had great respect for all his employers, especially the Krynski family. Dwight was born on April 22, 1952 in Selkirk, MB, and grew up in Bissett, MB until his family moved to Selkirk when Dwight was in his teens. Dwight always had a head for business, which started at a very young age with a paper route. He graduated as a 3rd class Power Engineer in 1974 and was presently studying for his 2nd class ticket. He was a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and also co-founded and owned Octagon Martial Arts in 1984 to 1998. He co-owned the Selkirk Family Fitness Center in 1986, which was the first fitness centre in Selkirk. He was nominated by BOMA for Building Operator of the Year in 1999 and was awarded first place in 2000. He started his Power Engineering career at Foam Form in Selkirk, then he went to the Winnipeg Bus Depot and then to the Bank of Nova Scotia. He then started at the Victoria General Hospital and the Assiniboine Credit Union and at the same time was helping with the design of the Mechanical and Electrical layout at the Credit Union Plaza at 215 Garry St., Winnipeg. He ended up staying at the Credit Union Plaza (also known to some as "The Building") for over twenty years, during which time be became the Chief Power Engineer. With all his many accomplishments (much too many to list), he loved putting forth his best. Dwight was a quick learner with a photographic memory. He could encourage, teach, motivate, administrate, delegate and most of all, behind the scenes, he had a giving heart. When Dwight did something, he did it well and he gave it his all. He like to talk, work, socialize (and in that order). He made donations to many charities, especially the Burn Fund, and he could always be found driving around at Christmas time handing out turkeys. He loved playing the piano, collecting numerous items, and always had a business deal on the go. Dwight will be remembered by many for what he did, but his family will remember him for who he was! We love you and will never forget you. Now the battle is won, Dad. A viewing will be held Wednesday, January 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, followed by cremation. The memorial service to be held Friday, January 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Selkirk Aboriginal Redemption Center Church, 209 Dufferin Ave., Selkirk, with Pastor Ray Settee officiating. Flowers are graciously declined. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
