PETER JOHN HUNT It is with great sadness the family of Peter Hunt announces his sudden passing on January 25, 2004 at the age of 56. He leaves to cherish his memory his son Denny (Oliver) grandson Nicholas; brother Bob (Jeri) sister Dianne (Jack) nieces and nephew, Tricia (Dave), Mandy (Rob) Dale; as well as great-nephews and niece, Cole, John, Jordan and Samantha and special friends, Rob and Denise Ward and family, Wendy Zarichney and Olive Pasichnyk. Pete was predeceased by his parents, William in November 1998 and Lilian in July 2003. He was born on February 1, 1947 in Selkirk and lived most of his life in Selkirk until more recently having moved to Winnipeg. He attended high school in Selkirk. His mechanical ability became evident early in life with all the time he spent working on his own and other vehicles of family and friends. He was always available to help when needed, putting their needs before his own. After high school he worked for a time at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre where he enjoyed caring for others. He then moved on to pursue his career in mechanics at Smurfit - MBI, where he attained his 4th class engineering certificate, took courses in hydraulics and other courses related to his work. Up until his passing he was employed at Smurfit - MBI as the head mechanic. He was dedicated to his job and worked hard at keeping the plant running smoothly, often working long days and overtime on weekends. He will be missed. Pete loved to spend his spare time over coffee with friends. His door was always open for those in need and he played a significant part in many peoples lives. The love of his life was his grandson Nicholas of whom he was so proud and who will miss "Poppa" dearly. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 1:00 p.m. at Gilbarts Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB with Pastor Stan Richards officiating.
