BEVERLY SHEILA FLEISHER (nee LITMAN) Beverly Fleisher, beloved, devoted wife of Sidney; mother of Marcia (Kelly), Rhonda (Robert), Susan (Larry), Sara (Benjamin) and sister of Jerry and Larry Litman; loving grandmother of Alexander, Ethan, Georgia, Mira, Loren, Lily, Jeremy, Leah, Alexa, and Brendan. While touring with her loving husband of 54 years, Beverly Fleisher passed away on January 27 in San Jose, Costa Rica. Courageously, she waited until her daughters, Marcia, Rhonda, Susan, and Sara arrived. At her passing, Sidney was at her bedside. Although world travel had become a part of her life in later years, Beverly was a product of the prairies. She was born in Winnipeg in 1931 and grew up surrounded by family and friends. It was here, in 1944, that she met the man with whom she would create a wonderful future. At a social function, in the middle of the horrors of the Second World War, Sidney Fleisher spied Beverly Litman across the room and they spent the next 59 years in passionate love. Although they were only 17 and 14 years of age, that love survived and sustained them through the struggles of early marriage. Despite Sidneys age and the fact that they had three young daughters, Beverlys support and faith in Sid allowed him to return to High School in 1961. While Sidney studied, Beverly provided a warm, loving home environment and during this time, the couple welcomed their fourth daughter into the world. Sidney graduated from dentistry in 1968 and the new Dr. Sidney Fleisher threw himself into his practice to provide the comforts he felt his Beverly deserved. The driving force and passion of Beverlys life was her love for her family. No child or grandchild had a more sensitive, empathic, or comforting listener than Beverly. The kitchen table was a centrepiece of conversation and nourishment to both body and soul. As the years passed and the family expanded and spread, contact was constantly maintained via the telephone and frequent visits. Beverly had a unique combination of beauty, natural grace, humour, and intelligence. She was remarkably intuitive and responsive, and had a genuine interest in people. Having met Beverly, one felt it was a privilege to have spent time with her. Beverly left a legacy of beautiful memories and life lessons to her children and grandchildren that will enrich the lives of generations to come. Her spirit lives on and her love is with us now and forever. A multitude of thanks to Dr. Duncan Manley who provided superb medical care to Beverly and exceptional support and compassion to all of us. We would also like to thank the staff of Hospital Clinica Biblica (San Jose, Costa Rica) for their part in the fine care provided to Beverly. Funeral services were held Friday, January 30 at Congregation Etz Chayim. Flowers are respectfully declined. Donations may be made to The Rainbow Society or a charity of your choice.
