Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJULIA LILLIAN REYKDAL At home, on January 26, 2004, heavenly angels peacefully came for our most beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, mother-in-law and sister. Julia was born in Gimli on August 10, 1910 and married Gisli (Gillie) Reykdal on September 6, 1927. After several years of marriage, they moved to Winnipeg Beach where Julia resided until her passing. Julia is survived by her three children, Mae Willis, John Reykdal (Isabel) and Joyce Baron. Sharing their loss are 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother Joe Yurejchuk and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Gillie in 1982; two grandchildren, Murray Willis and Cheryl Zaluski; sons-in-law, Joe Willis and Al Baron, as well as three sisters and two brothers. When Julia wasnt out fishing on Lake Winnipeg with Gillie, she was working at the Gimli Air Force Base or the snack bar at the Winnipeg Beach Curling Rink. Her tireless energy kept her going 90 plus years! She could always be counted on to lend a hand. These last few years, she was encouraged to take a well deserved break, but she was as stubborn as she was kind and generous. Julia was a very active member of the Winnipeg Beach United Church and treasured the many friendships she made there. Her many pastimes included curling, bingo, playing cards, baking, making her famous perogies and spending time with her extended family. Her sense of humour, quick wit and warm caring personality will be so dearly missed by all. A celebration of Julias life will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Winnipeg Beach on Saturday, January 31 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Lynn Stevens officiating. Viewing will be held a half hour prior to the service. Interment of her ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winnipeg Beach United Church, General Fund, P.O. Box 392, Winnipeg Beach, MB R0C 3G0. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
