Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY EVELYN FONTAINE Peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre, Mary Evelyn Fontaine passed away at the age of 64 years. Mary was born in Poplar River on January 16, 1940, residing there her entire life. She enjoyed travelling, spending time with family and friends and many family activities. Her home was always open. She enjoyed cooking and loved when her family would come over for a meal. Her greatest pride was her grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory seven daughters, Sophia Hansen (Russell), Elva Bruce (Jimmy), Virginia Batenchuk (Donald), Margie Fontaine (Wes), Frieda Fontaine, Beatrice Hendry (Brad) and Matilda Bittern (Tom) three sons, William Fontaine Jr. (Brenda), Clarence Fontaine (Amanda) and Louie Fontaine; 43 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Esther Bruce; sisters-in-law, Annie Bernard and Viriginia Whitehead; brothers-in-law, Paul Bruce and Alex Bruce. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband William Fontaine Sr., granddaughter Erica Bruce and three grandsons, Faron Bruce, Wendel Fontaine and Wade Batenchuk. Prayers were said on Tuesday, January 27 at 8:00 p.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave., Winnipeg. Wake services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, Thursday, January 29, and Friday, January 30 at Poplar River. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 1:00 p.m. at the Poplar River Community Church, Poplar River, MB with Pastor Allan Sinclair officiating. Interment to follow at Poplar River Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Rodney Bruce, Desmond Batenchuk, Cameron Fontaine, Benny Hansen, Desmond Bruce and Gregory Fontaine. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of GD4 at the Health Sciences Centre, especially Nurses Vicky and Melanie for all their care and kindness given to Mary.
