Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATIE (CZAJ) STAMPNICK Peacefully on January 27, 2004, Katie Stampnick passed away at the age of 85. Left to cherish her memory are her son Ken (Bonnie) daughter Gail (Terry) and her grandchildren, Bailey, Ivy and Leigh. She was predeceased by her husband Walter; her sisters, Ann, Nellie and Rose and brothers, Frank, Mike, Peter and John. She is survived by two sisters, Francis and Louise. Born March 8, 1918, Katie grew up in the farming community of Cooks Creek and later moved to Rennie after her marriage to Walter. There they were both employed by Devlin Timber, with Katie as the camp cook for Canadian loggers and German prisoners of war. In 1956, after starting their family, they moved to Winnipeg to start a new life. Katie became a waitress at the O. G. in Transcona where she was known for her fast and friendly service. She later worked at the Winnipeg Inn. Her warm personality attracted many friendships over the years. Katie was a devoted Catholic and a parishioner at St. Joseph the Worker. She was an honest, kindred spirit. One who had respect for all people and always took the time to keep in touch with her friends and family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and could always be counted on to guide and take care of them. Never one to waste time, she loved to sew and was known for the detailed doll clothes she made and shared with her extended family. Katie had a zest for life. She loved to meet people, go out with her friends and often left reception areas having made new friendships. Many thanks to all the wonderful staff on the 3rd floor of Poseidon Care Centre for their special care and compassion. Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 505 Brewster St. Flowers are gratefully declined but if friends and family so wish, a donation can be made in Katies memory to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. 774-5421 Your life was love and labour Your love for your family true No length of time can dim the past of love and memories of you. God has His arms around you and we see your tender face as you are lifted into Heaven in His loving warm embrace. Love you Mom / Grandma / Friend.
