Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDANIEL EDWARD DICK It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of 77 year old Daniel Edward Dick, husband; father; grandfather; great-grandfather; brother; and uncle; on Friday, January 16, 2004, at Winnipeg, MB, his loving wife of 55 years, Mary; his children; and grandchildren; at his bedside. Daniel was born Thursday, April 8, 1926 at Split Lake, MB. He was united in marriage to Mary Spence, July 12, 1948 at Split Lake. Together they were blessed with seven sons and seven daughters. Daniel was a very loving and devoted family man who strived only to do the best for his family. He was a true believer of the Lord, and faithfully attended church until his illness overcame him. Daniel was employed with Canadian National Railways for 41 years, then retired at Mile 42. His three great loves, firstly, being with his family; secondly, was music which he passed on to his sons, the (Dick Brothers) and thirdly, watching and attending wrestling shows. Daniel is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Tobil (Christine), Gordon (Mary), Elijah (Kathy), John (Eleanore), Dennis (Veronica), Glen (Joan), Andy (Sheila) daughters Maria Genaille (Marcel), Fanny Beardy (George), Lucy Kirkness (Steven) , Florence Brightnose (Marcel), Darlene Shlachetka (Raymond), Lillian Campeau (Alec), Caroline Keeper (William) brothers, Samson Dick (Galena) stepbrother, Harold Flett (Elsie) brothers-in-law, Arthur Flett, Fred Napaakesik; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Dick, Jean Cook, Lucy Napoakesik, Josela Kirkness; and numerous other relatives. Daniel was predeceased by his father, Adam Dick; mother, Maria McPherson; grandson, Jamie Dick; brother, Douglas Dick; sisters, Sara Kirkness, Dora Flett, Fanny Dick, Betsy Peters, Maggie Kirkness; brothers-in-law, Tommy Cook, Walter Peters, John Kirkness, Tobil Kirkness, Jack Spence. A Vigil Service was held Monday, January 19, 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Hemauer Funeral Home led by Archdeacon Lydia Constant. A Wake Service was held Tuesday evening, January 20, at the Cormorant Community Hall. The Funeral Service was held Wednesday, January 21, 11:00 a.m. at the Cormorant Community Hall, Cormorant, MB, with Rev. Irene Personius of St. Lukes Anglican Church presiding, assisted by Archdeacon Lydia Constant and Lay Reader Doris Shlachetka. Tribute in song and word were given by family members. Following the interment prayers at the Cormorant Cemetery, a reception was held at the Cormorant Community Hall. The Pallbearers were Tyler Dick, Jason Dick, Kevin Dick, Derek Dick, Darryl Dick, Vincent Beardy, Jeremy Kirkness, Jonathan Dick, Christopher Shlachetka, David Campeau, Bradley Dick, Stevie Ray Dick. Honorary Pallbearers were Art Fenner, Simon Nabess, Neil Myers, Frank Ducharme Sr., Luke Ross, Wilfred Genaille, Marcel Genaille, George Beardy, Steven Kirkness Sr., Marcel Brightnose, Raymond Shlachetka, Alec Campeau, William Keeper; Tataskweyak Gaming Commission Board; Cormorant Community Members; family members and friends whose lives Daniel touched. Special thank-you to Dr. Zacharias, Jennifer Taylor, Pat Hill, Central Dialysis Unit and GH 4 Unit Staff of the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre, Gullwing Transport, Chief and Council of Tataskweyak Cree Nation, Monica Genaille; and the medical staff who helped take care of dad; and family and friends who gave their love and support.
