JOHN (JACK) BARNES Peacefully, after a brief illness, on January 28, 2004, our father, John (Jack) Barnes passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. Remembered by his family, Len and Melanie, Donna and Wayne, Ken and Beverly and grandchildren; Nicole, Kim and Dan Barnes; Jeff, Jennifer and Jill Deans; special family; Bob and Carrie Ferguson, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Mona. Jack was a sergeant with the Princess Louise Dragoon Reconnaissance Regiment serving overseas from 1940 to 1946. He spent his career as a seed analyst for the Northwest Line Elevator Grain Company. Jack and Mona enjoyed many winters in Florida and summers in Gimli where many lasting friendships were made and good times were had. Thank you to all the friends who made our parents lives so enjoyable. Jack was always willing to lend a helping hand. He could tackle any job, including plumbing, electrical and car repairs. He became very skilled in building wooden model ships. He completed 14 ships that friends and family can enjoy. Each ship would take several hundred hours to complete and was truly a work of art. He was a perfectionist at any task he tried. He was the proverbial "Jack of all trades." A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 3 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Special thanks to the staff of the GH4 for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or the Central Speech and Hearing Clinic in care of Victoria Hospital, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8 THOMSON Funeral Chapels - 669 Broadway - 783-7211
