MARY BERNACKI Our beloved mother and baba, aged 100 years, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2004 at the Maples Personal Care Home. Mary leaves to mourn her son John (Pat), daughter Anne Kinaschuk, daughter-in-law Bernice Barnicki, sister Jean of Connecticut, USA, brother Bill of Winnipeg and niece Nettie as well as ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Mike, sons, Nick and Joe; as well by sister Anne and brother Pete. Born 1903 in the Ukraine, Mary arrived in Winnipeg as a child. She lost her mother at age eight and struggled along with her siblings to establish their place in Canada. She married Mike at age 16 and together they had four children. She worked hard along side Mike during their years at the U.R.A. hall and former Odeon movie theatre until their retirement. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the following: family friend Rae Prociuk for her kindness and compassion and to the staff at the Maples Personal Care Home for the loving care shown to Mary and her family. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 4 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Fr. Kouts and Deacon Woroby officiating. Interment at All Saints Cemetery.
