Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN MARIA TUYL (nee JOKINEN) It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of our mother and friend, Helen M. Tuyl at her home on January 28, 2004. Helen leaves to cherish her love and memory; son Clyde (Dee), daughter Lauren (Kevin), sister Minnie, sisters-in-law Sophia and Martha, grandchildren James and Doug, great-grandchild Lara, nieces Linda, Judy, Joanne, Jennifer and nephews Bill, Jim, Eric, Ed and Wayne. She was predeceased by her husband Dirk; parents Emil and Maria; sister Bertha; brothers, Ollie, Olerich and Eric; sister-in-law Dorothy and niece Ann. Helen was born in Whitemouth, Manitoba on May 13, 1925. She married her husband Dirk in 1948 and they resided throughout Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario, until settling in Winnipeg in 1976. Helen will be lovingly remembered as a gentle and caring soul, who made everyone feel welcome by her selfless, supportive and non-judgemental attitude. She will also be remembered by her family as a scrabble master, cross word puzzle expert and a cook who could create fine cuisine from minimal ingredients. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 3, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Interment and reception will follow. Should friends so desire, a donation in memory of Helen can be made to the Westwood Presbyterian Church, 197 Browning Blvd., Winnipeg, R3K 0L1.
