PHYLLIS IRENE RONEY (nee WRIGHT) Peacefully, on January 31, 2004, our mother passed away at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 81, after a brief battle with cancer. Phyl was born in Earl Grey, SK on March 4, 1922. She spent her early years in Regina, and worked for a short time at the Bank of Nova Scotia. At this time, Phyl met and married her beloved husband of 55 years, Jim Roney. As a bankers wife she led a gypsy lifestyle, living in Regina, Prince Albert, Brandon, Grenfell and Winnipeg. Upon retirement they moved to Vancouver Island, returning later to Winnipeg to enjoy their new grandsons. Phyl enjoyed playing bridge, entertaining, gardening and organizing travel trips with her many friends. Mom was a special person. She will be remembered for her kindness, openness, and her ability to see the best in everyone. Predeceased by her husband James; infant son Robert; parents, Robert and Elizabeth; brother Frank and sister Joyce. She is survived by her son Lloyd; daughter-in-law Barbara; grandsons, Brendan and Ian. Also Ruth and Sandy McDonald and their children, Diane, Rob and Sherrie and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview for their care and kindness. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 5 at 11:00 a.m., St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0R1. Reception to follow. Cremation has taken place.
