FLORENCE GERTRUDE PATTERSON (KEMP)
Born: Feb 01, 1921
Date of Passing: Jan 31, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE GERTRUDE PATTERSON (nee KEMP) Florence Gertrude (Kemp) Patterson, was known by her many friends and family as Gert or Trudie. Mom was predeceased by her husband Elmer Gordon (Pat) Patterson on January 21, 1973. Her parents, William and Florence Kemp predeceased her as well. Born February 1, 1921, in Ethelbert, passed away after a brief illness January 31, 2004 in Grace Hospital. Mom had been a resident of Oakview Place since late 1998. Survived by her daughter Rhonda (Westmacott), husband David and grandsons, Mark and Jordan. Also survived by son Grant and her brother Grenville Kemp and wife Mary of Dauphin. Also remembered by sisters-in-law, Helen Patterson and Ena MacIver; and niece Marjorie and nephew Bruce (Sue) and niece Donna of California. Our mother grew up in Dauphin and worked as an operator for Manitoba Telephone System in Dauphin from the late 30s through the war to 1947. It was through the Telephone System that our parents met. They resided in Winnipeg from 1947 to 1953, Selkirk 1953 to 1957 (we arrived), and Brandon 1957 to 1959 and then in the West End of Winnipeg from 1960 to 1998. There were two homes on Strathcona Street, 615 our childhood home and 651 the "small" house that Mom purchased after Dad passed away. In the last six years she was robbed of her mobility by arthritis and her memory by Alzheimers. Even then her sense of humour was undiminished, and her cooperative spirit never lagged. We cannot say enough kind things about her caregivers at Oakview. They always praised her positive attitude and cooperative ways. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Roland, MB. The care given by Grace Hospital in her last few days was excellent. Our special thanks to the folks on the fifth floor for making her passing as comfortable as possible. If friends so desire a donation may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1858 Portage Avenue949-4872
