COLLEEN ADAMS (nee GILBERTSON) July 15, 1947 - January 30, 2004 With immensely sad hearts at her passing, but very proud hearts that celebrate a life lived to the fullest; on January 30, 2004 surrounded by family and friends, Betty-Jane (B.J.) and Trish, Colleen started on a new journey that irrevocably changed the lives of all she touched. Colleen faced her illness with incredible courage, a strong will and an even stronger heart. A wonderful woman, an incredible wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Colleen passed the way she lived: with grace, strength, dignity and beauty. Colleen leaves to cherish her memory her best friend and husband Lindsay; daughters, Brandie (John), and Chera; brothers and sisters, Cathleen, Coyle, Patrick (Joanne), Toni (Robert) granddaughter Madison; mother-in-law Mabel; nieces and nephews, Alexis (Eric), Morgan (Lucien), Daniel (Jenn), Andrea and Kaitlin. Colleen will be affectionately remembered and missed by Mary-Lou, Gail, Peggy-Jean (P.J.), Judy and many other great friends. Colleen was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Therese Gilbertson. Colleen was born in Winnipeg, grew up in Fort Rouge and worked several jobs until she met Lindsay, the love of her life, who she married in 1968. The most important jobs in Colleens life were being a devoted wife and loving mother. Colleen was unique in every sense of the word. She loved life and embraced all the beauty life had to offer. Colleen loved singing, music, cooking, "cleaning", dancing, crafts, gardening, crossword puzzles and sitting and shooting the breeze. Colleens unofficial job was a counsellor to friends, family and even strangers. There wasnt anyone that was undeserving of her love and friendship. To know her was to love her. A graveside service will take place Thursday, February 5 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. The family wishes to extend a special heart-filled thanks to all the staff on 7A West at the St. Boniface Hospital. We would like to especially thank Moms nurse, Lauren, for her care and compassion, Dr. Taylor for his kindness, Dr. Reslerova for allowing Mom to have whatever she wanted in her final days, and the palliative care team for making Mom as comfortable as possible. You all made a difference. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Division, 200 - 55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 1L8. Mom, we did it your way Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Cemetery and Crematorium 885-9715
