Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE ANN (KAY) BUCKBORO (nee TODD) February 12th, 1931 - January 31st, 2004 Age 72 Peacefully and unexpectedly on Saturday, January 31, 2004, while in St. Boniface Hospital with her Family by her side, Kay slipped away into the arms of the Lord. She was predeceased by her daughter Sherri Lynn; sister Eva and brother-in-law Joe Beaman and big brother George Todd; brother-in-law Neil MacMillan and parents, Margaret (Mom) (nee Russell) and Alexander Todd. Mom always told us, "The Lord never gives you more than you can handle!" She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her husband of nearly 52 years, Norm; son Craig and daughter-in-law Catherine Anne (Kitty) (nee Grace) and grandchildren, Sarah, Katie (Catherine), Jamie and Kristi; son Scott; son Glenn; older sister Margaret (Peggy) MacMillan; sister-in-law Marge Todd (nee Bouchard) younger brother William (Bill) Todd and wife Beverly (nee Bagnall) many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Kay made many friends along the way working at Kresges, Searle Grain, The Bay, The University of Manitoba Accounting Office, the Starlite Drive-in, Globe Promotions and Sears Accounting Office both at Head Office in Toronto and Winnipeg. Kay was born and lived in Winnipeg, MB, London, ON, Saskatoon, SK, Missssauga, ON. She retired with Norm to Lac du Bonnet, MB, only 25 feet from the Winnipeg River. Kay always enjoyed making friends, decorating her homes, making crafts, and sewing. Kay took up quilting with a passion with the Lac du Bonnet Quilting Club, and made an unknown number of friends and quilts. She participated in making quilts for the Orphans of Romania. "To Romania with Love." Kay loved her family, her quilting, her gardens and her many animal friends. She was devoted to her poodles, Nicci and Benji, and Babe, a foundling cat that lived 24 years! She fed and nurtured all the wild animals that visited regularly. Thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at St. Boniface Hospital Emergency, 6th Floor, Operating Room, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Step-down Unit that all worked tirelessly with Kay. A memorial service in celebration of Kays life will be held on February 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street, Winnipeg, MB R2C 1E8. Casual attire is suggested. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald St. 949-2000, The Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba, 1060 Ellice Ave. 982-4842, The Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St. 982-2041, St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache 237-2067 or a charity of your choice, in memory of Kay.
