GUS MERLEVEDE We are saddened to announce the passing of Gaston (Gus) Merlevede. A loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, wonderful brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Gus left us suddenly after a brief illness on Saturday, January 31, 2004. Gus joins his dearly beloved wife Elizabeth (Betty) who previously left us on February 10, 2002. Gus was born on June 30, 1924 in St. Boniface, MB. His memory will be cherished by sons, Kirk and Robert; grandchildren, James and Heather; sisters-in-law, Edna McKinnon and Flo Merlevede; nieces, Sheila (Don) Keatch and their two children, Michael and Erin, Diane Merlevede and Georgia Galas and her daughter Lisa; nephews, Dan (MaryLou) McKinnon, Robert and Bill Merlevede and Steve (Karen) Galas and their children, Nick and Lauren, and the Vandenheede family, Sue and son Kerry as well as other dear family and friends. We cannot begin to express how devastated we are to lose this wonderful and loving man who gave of himself selflessly and often to those in their own time of need, or simply requiring a helping hand. Gus leaves a legacy that cannot be easily expressed in words. He lived life to the full, passionate about his family and friends, his businesses and his love for the game of baseball. Gus lived and approached life in his own unique, insightful, and independent manner. God Bless. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 rue DesMeurons St., on Thursday February 5.
