LENA HANNA MURRAY (nee BALLANTINE) July 10, 1911 - February 1, 2004 Lena, at the age of 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. She leaves to cherish in her memory daughter Jeannette (Sam) Friesen of Calgary, son Jim Murray of Winnipeg, grandson Travis Friesen of Drumheller, AB, brother Ralph Ballantine of Pilot Mound and many nieces, nephews and friends. Lena was predeceased by her husband David (1981) loving granddaughter Amber (1981) and her siblings, Belle, Margaret, Robert, Jessie, Olive Ruth and Walter; sisters-in-law, Jean (John) Plunkett and Georgie Cassidy of Scotland. Lena was born in Marringhurst District on July 10, 1911, attended school in Marringhurst. She married David Murray of Glasgow, Scotland on December 22, 1937. During the early years, they farmed in the Glenora area until moving to Winnipeg in 1941. After operating a boarding house Lena worked at Bond & Ronald Chocolates and retired from Continental Caters. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion - Weston Branch. She loved music, crafts, games of chance, travelling and visiting with family and friends. Special thanks to the ladies from home care service and staff at Health Sciences Centre. Funeral service will be held on February 5 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be one half hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
