FRANK POBORSA May 25, 1917 February 2, 2004 Peacefully on Monday morning, February 2, 2004, Frank Poborsa passed away at his residence in Winnipeg Beach at the age of 86 years. Frank is survived by his wife Carol (Fense) of 59 years; daughter Joan Swirski; son Don Poborsa (Karen) and five grandchildren - Scott, Jayson, Jody, Jenna and Kailey, all of Winnipeg. He is also survived by a sister, Anne Friesen of Winnipeg; and brother, Victor (Ellen) Poborsa of Scarborough, ON; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters - Mary, Eva and Jean; and brothers Walter, Mitch, Joe and Stan. Frank was born on May 25, 1917, in Pleasant Home, MB (northeast of Teulon area). He farmed there for 30 years; semi-retiring to Winnipeg Beach in 1969 where he was self-employed until reaching the age of 65. Community involvement was very important to him. These activities included Secretary on the School Board, Secretary for the Holy Rosary Cemetery, a long-time member of the Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, as well as a very active member of the Winnipeg Beach Lakeside Seniors Club. He enjoyed his family - the get togethers, playing cards, fishing, gardening - especially those "prize" tomato plants and the daily feeding of the flocks of birds at his bird feeder. Prayers will be said tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Winnipeg Beach. A celebration of Franks life will be held on Thursday, February 5, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Holy Rosary Cemetery. Father Art Seaman will officiate. Pallbearers will include his two grandsons - Scott Swirski and Jayson Poborsa, as well as Gerry Fense, Gerry Swirsky, Randy Stankewich, and Tim Trach. Flowers gratefully declined - donations in Franks memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L OK6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
