MURRAY SHAWN BAPTISTE (HANSEN) August 15, 1985 - May 1, 2004 It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son and brother Shawn Baptiste at the age of 18 years. Shawn is survived by his parents, Gail Baptiste and Murray Ingamar Hansen (Floreen) siblings, Cheyenne Baptiste, Kerry-Ann, Ingy and Waylon, Carleen, Amy and Twyla; grandparents, Pearl Hansen, Rosalie and Boniface Baptiste; aunts and uncles, Francis (Iona) Baptiste, Grace (Paul) Melvin, Lucille (Steve) Taylor, Denise (John) Campbell, Chad (Paula) Baptiste, Fabian Baptiste, Rory (Monica) Baptiste, Russell (Sophia) Hansen, Lindsay (Josephine) Hansen and Luciel (Kent) Oatway; special friend Kyla Melstead, as well as many cousins and friends. Shawn grew up in Poplar River, Berens River, Riverton and lastly, Gimli where he attended school and lived with his dad and three younger siblings, Kerry, Ingy and Waylon. Shawn was just starting his profession in commercial fishing with his dad Ingamar, and close friend and mentor Roy Solmundson. He was always a hard worker. There were times, when as a young child, he would tell his mother that "he was going to look after her when he got big". He was outgoing and helpful to anyone he met. He loved to tease and joke. He was a joy to have around. He never hesitated to tell his mom or grandmothers that he loved them. Wake services will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home, 50 - 1st St., Gimli, MB and on May 5 and 6 in Berens River, MB. Funeral service will be held on May 7 at 1:00 p.m., in Berens River, MB. Pallbearers are Chad Baptiste, Rory Baptiste, Reggie Hansen, Stewart Hansen, Dana Mason and Jonathan Disbrowe. Honorary pallbearers are David Kerns, Mike Disbrowe, Benny Hansen, Ziggy Sveinson and Nolan Batenchuk.
