OSCAR (OLIE) HILDING EKLUND

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOSCAR (OLIE) HILDING EKLUND Oscar (Olie) Eklund passed away peacefully at his home in the presence of his most precious wife Jean at the age of 84 years. Olie also leaves to mourn his beautiful memory daughter Lynn (Clare) Williams; grandchildren, Caroline (Warren), and Christopher special long time friend (Chris). He also leaves to mourn one brother. Olie was predeceased by his parents Martin and Amanda; sister Anna; brothers, Victor, Robert, Gunner, Lloyd and Gustave. Olie was born on September 2, 1919. As a young man Olie served in the Second World War in the PPCLI. After the war Olie was employed with Imperial Oil in East St. Paul. Over the years he was on several loan assignments overseas assisting in training local personnel on refinery operations. His first assignment was in Rotterdam, Holland. On completion in Rotterdam he went on to Norway, Sicily and Aruba. On his return to Imperial he transferred to the Winnipeg Pipe Line. After retiring in 1983, Olie and his wife Jean loved travelling on vacations to Hawaii. Flowers gratefully declined, memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Cremation has taken place, at his request a private family service will take place at the St. Vital Cemetery in the spring.
