FRANK FERRIS Frank passed away peacefully on February 4, 2004 at the age of 89. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Jean of 62 years; sons, George, (Judy), Stanley (Darlene) and Robert (Marlene) daughters, Betty (Russ), Lorraine (Ron) and Carrie (Jack). Frank is survived by his brothers, Bill and Joe (Florence) sisters, Ida and Laura (George) grandchildren, Kim, Brian, Claudette, Larry, Bradley, Dean, Jason and Stacey; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his son Larry; parents, John and Lily; brothers, John and Fred; and sisters, Rosie and Elsie. Frank was born in March 1914 near Headingley, MB. At the age of 4 his family relocated to a homestead 100 miles north of Winnipeg, near Chatfield, MB. Frank left the family farm to find work. His travels took him to many parts of Canada. In 1937 Frank and his brother Joe moved to Mackenzie Island to work in the Gold Eagle Mines where he remained until the mines closure in 1941. In 1940, Frank met his lovely wife Jean. Her father was the cook at the Gold Eagle Hotel on Mackenzie Island. They married in September 1941 and moved to Winnipeg after their marriage. Frank worked for Swifts until he enlisted in the Canadian Army where he eventually served in the Provost Corps until 1945. Frank and Jean purchased the family farm from his parents where they resided until Frank retired in 1979. During his tenure on the family farm Frank also drove school bus for the Lakeshore School Division. He retired with 20 years of distinguished service. Frank and Jean moved to Lockport for their retirement years where they remained until 1998 when they moved back to Winnipeg. Franks love for his family and his joy of life will be lovingly remembered. He will be forever missed. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff on tower 5 at Deer Lodge Hospital. Prayers will be held on Sunday, February 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Rev. Michael Koryluk of St. John Brebeuf Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in Windsor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
