Date of Passing: Feb 04, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE ELLEN RINTOUL (nee DOLDING) It is with heavy hearts we announce that after a courageous two-year battle with cancer, and with her husband by her side, Joyce peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at her home. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband and best friend, Rod; her daughters, Tammy (David) Wiens and Charmaine (Dean) Macooh of Saskatoon; her brother Glenn (Barbara) Dolding of Victoria; her sister Kathy Tornblom of Brandon; her grandchildren, nieces and nephew, her many friends and neighbours, and her faithful dog Tika. Her parents Harold and Alice Dolding predeceased Joyce. Joyce was born in Winnipeg and spent her entire life living and working in the St. James area, attending Linwood School and St. James Collegiate. Joyce had a unique way of making everyone feel special. She was an outgoing, energetic woman who always put others before herself. Joyce had the gift of humour and was always laughing. She cherished all animals, her flowers, and especially spending time at her cottage. Her career took her down many paths - from fight attendant to administrative assistant, Joyce loved her work and did everything to the best of her ability. She especially enjoyed her work at Deer Lodge Centre. Wherever Joyce went, she made many friends. She treasured each one, and is loved by them all. The family wishes to express a special "thank you" to the countless doctors and nurses at the Assiniboine Clinic, Cancer Care Manitoba, and Palliative Care who have been involved in her care during her battle with cancer. Cremation has taken place and she will be interred at a private family ceremony. A celebration of Joyces life will be held Monday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m., Heritage Park Temple Community Church, 825 School Rd. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1, or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Oh my, Joyce came to mind the other night while looking through old pictures. Met Joyce in 1960 at Saint James Gospel Church, she was in my dad's Sunday school class. She also babysat my brother and I but she had a horse named Decter at the Jones barn on Saskatchewan Avenue nothing out here then. But she was always so kind, gentle and loving to me. When my mom passed she helped me through it and for years we talked often then lost contact. She was my big sister on cold winter nights when she stayed over at our house, when I was scared cold she would always take me in bed with her, hold me, tell me everything would be ok. I loved her and so sorry only now finding out about her death. To her loved ones she was my hero, my big sister I looked up to and I miss her. - Posted by: Nic Orr (She was my big sister I never had) on: Dec 01, 2019
