Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLLOYD GEORGE FIDLER Lloyd George Fidler passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 5, 2004 in Selkirk, MB. Lloyd was born January 6, 1918 in Lockport, MB to parents Patrick and Victoria Fidler. The family later moved to Selkirk where Lloyd spent his years growing up. Selkirk was where he returned after the war with his new bride. June 1940 found Lloyd signed into the Canadian army, sent overseas and returning home in 1945. He spent time in England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Sicily and Africa. In 1941 while overseas he met Dorothy Vera Kingsnorth. They were married April 17, 1943 in Redhill, Surrey, England and came home to Selkirk in 1945 after the war was over. The couple have one daughter Christine Lefteruk also of Selkirk. Lloyd worked at the Manitoba Rolling Mills for 13 years and it took some persuading to get him to retire. He loved to hunt, to fish and is known for his willingness to step in wherever a helping hand was needed. Lloyd was well known for his ability to build or repair just about anything. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Jimmy and Mervin. Lloyd will be greatly missed by Dorothy his wife of nearly 61 years; his daughter Chris; grandchildren, Trent (Shaney) Lefteruk, Sherry (special friend Jerry), Scott (Regine), Kristy (fiance Steve). Also five great-grandchildren, Kassidy, Jena, Ezra, Layla and Elsa; his brother Walter (special friend Jean) of Lady Smith, BC; sister Elsie (Jeff) Cunningham of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; sister-in-law Betty Fidler; nieces, nephews and countless friends. The funeral service for Lloyd will be held Tuesday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Gilbarts Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk. Pastor Jacquie Fontaine officiating. Viewing will be held on Monday, February 9 (tonight) from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lloyds memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
