MICHELE MONGEAU (nee BARNABE) After a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer at the age of 51, Michele (Barnabe) Mongeau, passed away on January 23, 2004 at the Peachtree Christian Hospice in Atlanta, Georgia. Michele was predeceased by her mother Denise Barnabe in July 1986, and by her husband Robert Mongeau in September 2003. She leaves to mourn her father Leo Barnabe, and her brother Ray and his family, Tricia, Renee and Jean-Paul. She will be sadly missed by many aunts and uncles, friends and co-workers. Michele began her studies at the University of Manitoba in 1970, graduating with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Computer Science. After graduation, she traveled to Hong Kong, Australia, Bangkok, Delhi, Bombay and London. Her places of employment were NCR and Barber Industries in Calgary, Manitoba Hydro in Winnipeg and lastly Lanier Worldwide Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia where she was a Principal Software Analyst. Unfortunately, Michele was not able to fulfil her dream of operating an antique business, but her work at St. Vincent de Paul Society touched many lives, along with giving life lessons to those who shared her final days. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons St. A private interment will take place at a later date at the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
