CAROLINE DAHLBERG (nee CHURKO) Born in Winnipeg, April 11, 1912, passed peacefully at home February 3, 2004 with family in Surrey, BC. Predeceased by her husband Carl in 1974 and son Allan in 1992, Carrie will be very missed by her son Eric (Angie) of Calgary; daughter Gloria (Ken) Gillies; daughter-in-law Pearl; beloved grandchildren, Glenn, Angela, David, Ivan and Christopher and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Taelor Rae. Hard working hands now at rest, many will remember the long-time Walnut Street seamstress-extraordinare who left Winnipeg in 1974 and spent her final years in BC. Left behind also to miss this wonderful woman are her brothers, Charlie (Anne), Zig (June), Cas and sisters, Steffie Cheslock and Rose (Barry) Leonard (who was with her to the end) many nieces and nephews and in-laws in Sweden. The family would like to thank all the wonderful Doctors involved (what a team!) in giving her the gift of health and sight...her love of books, crocheting, crosswords and Sunday Scrabble games (thank you, Andy and Carol!) right to the end. Thanks also to all family members, special friends and neighbours who made her final days so peaceful and special. At her request, cremation will take place and no formal service will be held. Family and close friends will gather at a later date to share memories of her wit, wisdom and unselfish ways. Flowers gratefully declined and because of her love of animals, those who wish may make a donation in her name to your local S.P.C.A. (February 7, 2004 - Happy Birthday Grampa!....we return your first daughter to you and for reasons known only to her, which gave her comfort at the end, shell join you and others long gone and the family dogs, Pluto and Sandy....who will "look after her and keep her safe".)
