ARTHUR LLOYD HAWKINS October 4, 1925 - February 6, 2004 After demonstrating a courageous will to live, Lloyd passed peacefully, with his family by his side. Dad chose to walk across the bridge and enter through the gate. Lloyd was survived by his dear, loving wife Simone of 51 years; his five children and their spouses whom he loved as his own, Deborah (Terry), Gary (Carol), Randall (Kim), Karen (Gary) and Michelle (Dave) his 11 grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as Papa, Corray (Steven), Brendan, Landon, Drew, Matthew, Lauren, Taylor, Ty, Christian, Alex and Reece. Lloyd was blessed with a great-granddaughter Kassandra and recently a great-grandson Ethan. Left to mourn are Lloyds brothers and sisters-in-law whom he cherished, Gord (Delores), Norm (Dianne), sister-in-law Margaret and brother Len. Many nephews, nieces and special cousins share in our familys loss including Simones family, who he was close to and loved very much the Brachmans and Del, Denise and their children. Lloyd had so many treasured friends with whom he shared blissful moments while golfing, fishing, curling and travelling the world. Lloyd was pre-deceased by his parents Alton and Melvina, brother Tony, great-grandnephew Rylan, cousin Jack and most recently his very special nephew Brian. Lloyd was born in Carmen, MB where from day one his indomitable spirit captivated and inspired those who knew and adored him. As a young man his joy was baseball and he travelled around Manitobas small towns playing his game. His family moved from Elm Creek and settled in Fort Whyte. Lloyd served his country with pride as a member of the armed services stationed at Camp Borden beginning on the fourth month of Forty Four and served fourteen months. After his return he was a faithful employee of Furnaceman for 27 years. In 1950 Lloyd met his love his soul mate Simone and after two and a half years they were married at Fort Garry United Church on August 8, 1952. In 1971 Lloyd founded Harstone Heating which is still in operation thanks to the dedication of Lloyds two sons. Harstone was Lloyds second passion and after 15 successful years Lloyd retired to enjoy his first passion his family. Lloyds family included his children and all their friends and no one will forget the special times around the family pool on Harstone Road or the memorable gatherings at the family cottage at Falcon Lake. The lake will never be the same without Lloyd in his chair, the center of attention reciting familiar one-liners and cavorting with friends, family and neighbours alike day after day. The Hawkins family bestows a heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, and all of the special nurses who went beyond the call especially Giselle who brightened his days. Funeral service will be held at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. Wednesday, February 11, at 2:00 p.m. Lloyds reverend Dr. Michael Wilson will preside. The family invites all to attend a celebration of Lloyds life at a reception to follow in the Church auditorium. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Charleswood United Church Memorial Fund in Honor of Lloyd Hawkins, 4820 Roblin Blvd., R3R OG6. Dad - We will miss your smile, your sparkling eyes, and your strong supportive spirit. You have touched many hearts and lives. We find comfort in knowing you are in Gods hands and when it is time to meet again we know you will be at the gate waiting for us to guide us home. We Love You. XOXOXO
