EILEEN ROBERTA MacDONALD (nee JONES) Eileen MacDonald, beloved wife of Norman, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2004, surrounded by her family, at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Lizzie Jones; her brothers, Walter and Les; and a sister in infancy, Joyce. She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory her loving husband of 52 years, Norman; her children, Brian (Valerie), Heather (Craig) Kirby, Colin (Glenda) and Ken. Eileen is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Staci MacDonald, Tracey, Karyn and Nicole Kirby, Scott, Cameron and Christian MacDonald; her brothers and sisters, Gladys Pihulak, Norman (Mary) Jones, Ken (Doreen) Jones and Sheila (Jack) Armstrong; sisters-in-law, Betty Jones and Dorothy Jones; brothers-in-law, Donald (Trudy) MacDonald and Robert MacDonald; as well as numerous other relatives and dear friends. Eileen was born in Winnipeg on January 29, 1930, and grew up in the East Kildonan area. She enjoyed singing, and in her younger years was a member of St. Stephens church choir, where her mother was the organist for years. Eileen and Norman were married in 1952 and resided in Winnipeg their entire married life. She enjoyed traveling to Arizona and California with her friends, Muriel, Jim and Cathy. Eileen especially enjoyed the time spent at the cottage at Grand Beach where the jelly bean jar was always waiting. She cherished the time spent playing cards with her friends, and the family dinners with the Kirbys. Family was very important to Eileen and she was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren for maintaining their Scottish heritage through bagpiping and highland dancing. She will be remembered for her gentle nature and was always there when someone needed a shoulder to lean on. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Monday, February 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make a donation in Eileens memory to Khartum Shrine Transportation Fund, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B9, to further help children like her grandson, Cameron.
