She was born in Taunton, Somerset, England and came to Canada with her family in April 1912. She grew up in Brandon and moved to Winnipeg when she married in 1928. Rene was predeceased by her parents, Sam and Agnes and two brothers, Leonard and Gordon. Her husband Bill, predeceased her in 1965 and her grandson Gord in 2001. Left with many cherished memories of love and laughter are her son Alan and daughter-in-law Catherine; three grandchildren, Laurie (Wayne), Cathy (Bill) and Bill (Linda) four great-grandsons, Shohn, Jeff, Justin and Bryce. Her great-great-grandchildren, she unfortunately never got to know because of her illness. Rene will also be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Rene was active in community affairs, working as a volunteer at the Isaac Brock Community Club. After Bill died, Rene worked in the office of Keir Plumbing and Heating for several years. She was one of the original tenants at McClure Place and in the early days was active in the Tenants Association. Rene will always be remembered for the beautiful afghans she knit or crocheted over the years. Family have some of these to cherish. Many were donated to charity. In recent years, failing memory, poor hearing and eyesight reduced Renes ability to be involved with others. Many thanks to the staff of West Park Manor for their compassionate and professional care of Rene these past five years. In keeping with Renes wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family interment will take place in Brandon at a later date. WOJCIKS ALL BELIEFS & FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
