Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDERICK (FRED) ERNEST CATHCART On February 7, 2004, Frederick (Fred) Cathcart of Winnipeg passed away at the age of 87 years. Fred is survived by his loving wife Grace; two daughters, Patricia (Grant) Johnson of Calgary, AB and Brenda (Cam) Marchbank of Ottawa, ON; two grandchildren, Kevin Johnson and Cathy Johnson of Calgary; one sister Catherine Belton of Sun City, AZ; and one stepbrother Norman (Grace) Anderson of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his brothers, Wesley (Wes) of Winnipeg and Harold (Hal) of Edmonton, AB. Throughout his life, Fred was involved in community and church activities. He was a longtime member of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. including the barbershop quartet, the Fort Garry Four. For many years, Fred served as church elder and Sunday School Superintendent of Regents Park United Church. He was a faithful servant until his passing. He was also instrumental in developing intramural church basketball teams at Regents Park United Church. Fred and Grace were active members for 20 years at the Kinsmen Reh-fit Centre. Fred retired from the Canadian National Railway in 1981 after 35 years of employment. He served during the Second World War in the Sicily and Italy campaign with the Princess Patricias Light Infantry Division between 1939 and 1945. Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marys Road United Church (formerly Regents Park United Church), 613 St. Marys Rd., with Rev. Russell Wardell officiating. If family and friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the St. Marys Road United Church Memorial Fund would be greatly appreciated.
