ANNE SHINNIMIN 1914 - 2004 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a beloved lady-Anne Shinnimin of Penticton and Salmon Arm, BC on February 7, 2004. Predeceased by her husband, William Wellington Shinnimin; parents, Julius and Paulina Gatzke; six brothers (Paul, John O., Ewald, Herbert, Rudy and Reinherth) one sister Martha. Anne is survived by her children, Harold (Goldie) Shinnimin, Marjorie Harrison, Norman (Jenny) Shinnimin, Eva Michaud, Shirley Shandler, Violet Shinnimin and Diane Gaboury and one sister Edna Miller of Saskatoon, SK; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and several step-grandchildren. Anne was born in 1914 aboard a ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean as her parents journeyed to Canada from Germany. Her parents settled in northern Saskatchewan where Anne grew up in a log home constructed by her father. Along with her husband Bill, her early days were spent in rearing her family and she became a stalwart example of a pioneer woman, cooking, sewing, canning and preserving in the many tasks demanded in these times. The family moved to Manitoba and made a great many friends in the Winnipeg area and as her journey took her to Penticton she continued to amass a great many friends with whom she enjoyed her favourite pastimes. Her greatest treasures were her extended family; her enjoyments included gardening, playing cards, carpet bowling and making her special home-made soups. Cremation with a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Fletcher Park Seniors Resource Centre 51-6th Street NE, Salmon Arm, BC V1E 1H1. Condolences to be shared with the family may be sent to Harold Shinnimin, 150 - 321 Yorkton Ave. Penticton, BC V2A 3V6.
