JAMES STANLEY (STAN) HORE 1900 - 2004 Stan passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2004 at the Grace Hospital at the age of 103. He was predeceased by his wife Iva Kathryne (1989) his father Richard James Hore; his mother Lily May Jarvis; and his siblings, Audrey Harrison, Olive Campbell, Howard Hore and Allan Hore. Stan was born in Toronto, ON on July 22, 1900. The family moved to Brampton where he attended school. He was active in long distance running, hockey and had an interest in doing magic tricks. He joined the Merchants Bank in 1920. It later became the Bank of Montreal. Stan worked in several different branches across southern Ontario. In 1937 he married Iva Kathryne Thompson of Bothwell, ON. He finally retired from the Bank of Montreal in 1970 in Kitchener. Upon retirement, they took up travelling and camping, and taking the occasional cruise. Active in the Senior Citizen Clubs in Kitchener, Stan was involved as a travel courier as well as giving slide show travelogues of his travels. In 1995 he moved to Winnipeg. That year, Stan took up a new sport, sailing on Lake Winnipeg. He was an honourary member of the Silver Harbour Sailing Club at Arnes. He spent the last three years of his life at the Lions Manor. Stan is survived by two sons; Ronald James (Barbara) Hore of Winnipeg, MB and Philip (Sarah Clark) Hore of Litchfield, NS; his grandchildren, Scott (Kathi McConnell-Hore) Hore, Cindy (Murray) Sookermany, Shelly (Todd) Tyler, Christine (Angelo) Torchia, Alia (David) Pfeiffer, Rebecca Clark, and his great-grandchildren, Jessica and Tiana Sookermany, Bretton Tyler, Rhiannon McConnell-Hore, Kaitlyn and Thomas Torchia, and Brennan Pfeiffer. He was always remembered for his sense of humour and quick wit. His family will miss his story telling and cribbage playing. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12, at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. The family would like to thank the staff and Home Care workers at Lions Manor, Charleswood Care Centre, the doctors and nurses at the Health Science Centre and the Grace Hospital.
