WILLIAM KEITH HOPWOOD It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family of William Keith Hopwood announces his passing after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 10, 2004. He was predeceased by his wife Joey and his parents. He leaves to mourn, his two daughters, Susan (Rob) grandchildren, Jason and Sherri Burnett, Cindy (Garry) Kemplen; Joeys three sons, Dean, Robbie and Todd (Michelle) Berard and their two children. He also leaves to mourn, his sister Carol (Nelson) Draper and her family, Chris (Germaine), Cam (Wanda) and family, Corey; and a beloved cousin Bill McBurney from Ninga, MB where the original Hopwood farm was located. He also will be mourned by a large extended family. Dad was the last male Hopwood of this family. Dad started his family and career at a very young age and subsequently had these last six years to enjoy semi-retired. He loved nothing more than to travel and was very active in doing so this past summer. He was fortunate to have enjoyed a home in Florida for a few years which his family was able to enjoy with him. Dads career was varied and he loved nothing more than a challenge in the business world. He was involved in the trucking industry when he was young, and owned Keith Hopwood Transfer as well as other divisions. He then went on to be involved in the cedar lumber business and owned Cedar Products. During that time, he and Joey purchased the farm and the family was to enjoy many a year with various animals and activities. Dad opened Cedar Acres Farm Equipment on the North Perimeter selling Belarus tractors and then moved into car sales and service. Dads latest venture in semi-retirement was Cedar Acres Car Storage and continued with that until his untimely passing. There will be a memorial celebrating Dads life on Friday, February 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with a luncheon to follow. Cremation has taken place and his ashes are to be interred with his parents in the St. James Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted at CancerCare Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
