THEODORA (THEO) HARRIET LAW (nee CORNER) 1923 - 2004 Peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2004, our beloved Mom, Gram and GG, Theo Law passed away at her home of 27 years; as was her wish. She was predeceased in 1981 by her husband of 35 and one half years, Jack Law. She was also predeceased by her parents Peggy and Harry Corner, brother Alf Corner and sister Betty Young. Theo is survived by her two daughters and their spouses whom she loved as her own, Janie Law (Malcolm) and Kathy Reid (Bill) her two granddaughters, Krista Jackleen (Matthew) and Margo Jillian (whom Gram called Miggy) and her great-grandson Carter; by whom she was affectionately named GG. Left to mourn are Theos brother Dick Corner (Helen) and sister Jean Tillapaugh (Lyle), all from Nanaimo, BC. Theo enjoyed her visits at home with Jean and Lyle during her final days. Many nieces and nephews also share in our loss. Theo also leaves to mourn several friends and neighbours both young and old. Born in 1923 in Redvers, SK. Theo was the middle child of Harry and Peggy Corner. She grew up in Victoria, BC where she met the love of her life, Jack, at a ladies choice dance. They were married in November 1945. In 1951 they welcomed their first child, Janie Margaret and two years later, Kathleen Ann. Jacks job with CNT had the family living all over Canada. Theo made friends in every neighbourhood she lived in, including Winnipeg, where she proudly resided since 1976. Theo believed that everyone should volunteer and give of themselves to the community. Throughout her life she supported programs such as Neighbourhood Watch, Meals on Wheels, Tuxedo Lawn Bowling, Terry Fox Run, Varsity View Community Centre and the Royal School Library. She was also involved in her familys hobbies and interests. She spent many Sundays watching daughter Janie in the Springfield Hunt. She was also always in the audience of Krista and Margos musical theatre performances. She was voted #1 fan by Margos ringette team, and had a team jacket to prove it! She was an active member of the Charleswood United Church where she continued to form new friendships. Theo loved having family dinners, with an emphasis on dessert, and she was famous for her lemon tarts, coffee cake and "delicious" cookies. Theos family would like to thank CancerCare Manitoba, The Palliative Care Team, Dr. Krepart and nurse Louise Dansereau and all of the homecare workers who helped provide Gram the best care possible. A special thanks to Kim Johnston for all of her help with Gram and her family during Theos final few weeks. In lieu of flowers, and at Theos request, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Childrens Hospital, CancerCare Manitoba or The Salvation Army. Funeral service will be held at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., on Friday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m.. Theos minister, Dr. Michael Wilson, whose sermons she really enjoyed, will preside. The family invites you all to attend a celebration of Theos life with a reception following the service in the church auditorium. To know her was to love her. Theo left an imprint on all the lives she touched. She has made the world a much brighter place. She always said that "if everyone was just a little nicer to each other, the world would be a better place." So in her memory, the next time someone does something nice for you (a smile, a favour, etc), pass it on, do something nice for someone else and encourage them to do the same. Well love you forever. "1,2,3, Love You Gram." Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
