Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR SEYMOUR WASHBURN November 10, 1915- February 10, 2004 Peacefully, on Tuesday, February 10, 2004, at the Betel Home in Gimli, Arthur Seymour Washburn, aged 88 years of Gimli. Art is survived by his wife Sigga; one son Greg; two daughters, Karen of Comox, BC and Janet of Burnaby, BC; granddaughter, Jennifer of Comox, BC and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Mildred; his mother Alice and one brother Harold. He was born in Redcliff, AB and later moved to Medicine Hat where he worked at several jobs at a young age. Art then joined the Army and was stationed in the Signal Corps where he served overseas until he was injured. After the war he worked for North American Lumber which brought him to Gimli where he was employed as the manager. He then worked for the Civil Service at C.F.B Gimli and later in Winnipeg until his retirement. Art gave of his time, serving on many boards and councils. Some of these include Town Council, Gimli Lutheran Church Board, Gimli Credit Union, Royal Canadian Legion and the Kinsman Club. He was also an avid golfer and curler. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gimli Lutheran Church with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Gimli Community Cemetery. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Betel Home in Gimli for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Betel Home Foundation, Box 10, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
